    67 dist cap

I would like to buy a "correct" dist cap for my 67 and wonder if anyone knows of a source.

    Thanks,

I believe that Paragon and LIC have repros that look fairly close. I picked up an original for my 66 base engine car at Corvettes at Carlisle in Aug.

I just bought one of Corvette Central's "correct" reproductions. It came in a GM Restoration Parts box. The cap looks pretty darn close...no "R", Patent Pending, and Delco Remy. Check the archives, I remember seeing several threads when these caps first came out a few months ago. As I recall, the feeling was that they would judge pretty well. I'll be having mine judged in Louisiana in November.

Dumb question of the day: During NCRS judging, are you required to remove the ignition shielding for judging of the distributor, etc? Do you also have to pull a plug boot off to check the plug number? I was just wondering why people are paying such ridiculous money for a set of AC 43N plugs.
        thanks

The owner definitely removes the ignition shielding to judge many things: distributor (and tag), cap, wires, coil, and condensor. It also allows a better view (but still not perfect!) of the engine block number and date. I've never had to pull a spark plug boot.

Hang out on this Board for a short period of time and you'll laugh at dozens of examples of ridiculous prices paid for items. My favorite is $3,000+ for original shocks!

The spark plug numbers are typically visible with the boot installed, and most judges will look for them.
