    mitting or blackout procedures

I assume the blackout procedure was done at the end of the assembly process,(after body and chassis were mated) does anyone know exactly when? Would the spray pattern for mufflers and exhaust tail pipes, on an undercar exhaust, be from bottom to top is this correct?
    Thanks

Search the archives... I think you'll find John Hinckley gave a nice capsule summary of the chassis black out process a while back that 'debunked' the story about paint being applied by hand using mitts.

      Tim,

As Jack mentioned, there will be much info on the muffler blackout process for C2 in the archives. This process was performed before the body was installed on the chassis so no overspray of chassis black would have wound up on any part of the body. It did, however, wind up on the sides of the spare tire carrier cover and several other misc items in the area.

Use Hinckley and blackout, or Hinckley and mitting as your search words. Be sure to choose "both" for the terms of search words.
