    '64 Gas Door

Thanks for the help with my earlier interior paint question. My next one relates to the gas door on a '64. It is in excellent shape mechanically, but the glass (plastic?) covering the elblem is cracked - looks like a spider web inside the glass. Is there any way to repair this? It looks like drilling out rivets is required -- would this lose lots of judging points? Thanks for the help.

Tough to restore these, in my opinion. Even if you drill out the 6 "rivet like" pins and remove the "lens", you'll find that the lens is tough to restore. The old plastic "crazes", and it is near impossible to try to repaint these from the underside. My suggestion is to look for a good reproduction with the part # on the hinge. Chuck Gongloff
