    Jerry,

It can be made to work with varying levels of non-stock modifications/ parts swaps. Your profile wasn't specific: Are you adding the manifold to a 300hp motor or are you swapping carbs on a 365?

The AFB has a narrower mounting bolt pattern. For reasons I never understood, the drivers side front and passenger side rear flanges have dual pattern holes. The opposite diagonal is single pattern. Adding the missing holes using a gasket for location is fairly simple. Carb should then fit.

If you're swapping carbs, the biggest issue is that the stock AFB has a smaller air cleaner flange. Holley air cleaner base hole is too big. New Edelbrock "clones" are sized for the larger Holley are cleaner, however.

Further sugestions depend on what you're starting with, where you're going, and why. In most cases you'll be a happier camper staying as close to stock as finances and parts availability allow.

      Jerry,

OK, now I see your earlier post.

Trying to fix your problem by going away from stock is not the answer. Issue may not even be carburetion.

I've lived with both carbs and they each have their quirks. My experience is that "Jekyle and Hyde" behavior is more often ignition. When the carb gets goofy it stays goofy.

Stay tuned for the experts' responses.

          Jerry,

Please describe the problem, in detail, so that we can evaluate it. The condition may not be due to a faulty carburetor. The more details that you can provide, the better. Include any recent changes/adjustments that were made, and how they changed operating characteristics of your engine.

          Joe

PS: The 327/365 is a taught engine with a fairly "big" cam. It will never be docile and run as smoothly as a 300 HP engine, even in a perfect state of tune.

my car had been running rough, by rough i mean running up to high RPM quick would make it missout. Imade no changes and dicided to drive it easy to Midamerica Funfest 200mi. from where i live. We started out that morning and to my surprise it was running great all the way there and back. Sat about a week and started running bad again. What should i do?

              Jerry,

There really are some great problem solvers on this site. Probably just recovering from a rough weekend.

I am more of a semi-experienced hack so consider the source.

My intermittent high rev miss was eventually traced to a bad coil. The '63 does not have your TI of course, but I think a weak coil could cause the same problem no matter how it gets triggered.

You mentioned new plugs, cap, rotor, and wires. Were these of known high quaility? Did you have the problem before the tune-up? Which did you use, -43 or -45 heat range plugs? 45 is the one for the street.

I'm sure more better minds will weigh in soon.

all components are AC Delco. Plugs are the 45 heat range. The coil is aftermarket that came with the electronic ignition that was put in by a reputable spped shop.
