Re: 1965 396 question
i saw a 2005 post in the archives, " how to id 396bb" and the gentleman stated..ao smith bodies did not come with 396"s...i think i found the answer to my earlier post..in noland adams's 63-67 restoration and tech. guide on page 33 it shows 3 different ao smith workers(in their little white hats ) finishing big block bodies!!!! so that answered my question..if i am wrong please correct me....thanks alot...kent- Top

There are many A-body L78's
From the body build point of view, it was similar to an air-conditioned car with a different rad support and hood. And the pictures confirm, as you've said.
It believe was 1967 that Noland mentions the restriction of no BB A-bodies (after a few early cars).- Top

Kent. I looked at the photos on page 33 of Noland Adam's book, and it seems clear from the photographic evidence that A. O. Smith built BB cars in 65 and 66.
