Are the wheel trim ring and center hubcap identical for both a 1972 and 1977 Corvette?

Center cap, yes; trim ring, no. There's an early vs. late design of the trim ring and the difference deals with where the four clips are mounted with respect to the valve stem hole. Your copies of the respective Judging Guide books should tell you which version goes with which car...the two versions have the clips offset by 90-degrees....

Thanks alot Jack. I am looking to buy the trim rings for a 1972 Vette. I have now found a set the seller claims are for 1968 to 1972. Do you know if the trim rings are the same for these years? I do not have the JD books. Could you help me out as to what I should be looking for. Thanks Again.

One of the four sets of clips should be located very close to the valve stem hole for your 72. Later years they were random in location.

my 72 has the clips clocked almost exactly on the valve stem opening the rest are every 90 degres's (sp) almost exact---hope this helps
