    C1 Heater Valve Replacement

    Hi all,

I got a new heater valve, but am wondering about the temperature wire that goes from the fan box to the heater valve. I can't really see that it does anything. So, I have a couple of questions.

    (1) The copper end from the wire that goes into the heater valve is against an adjustment screw. Do I need to make some sort of adjustment before installing? If so, how?

    (2) What is the point of the copper wire thing? The valve seems to work fine without it.

    Thanks,

    Bob

    Re: C1 Heater Valve Replacement

    Bob -

The "copper wire thing" is a sealed capillary tube that originally was supposed to regulate the amount of flow from the valve, to maintain a constant output air temperature from the heater. Many failed early in the car's life, didn't work very well to begin with, and most replacement valves don't have either the capillary tube or the diaphragm on the valve it was supposed to operate.
