C2 427 Carb - 3811
A friend has the opportunity to purchase a cast iron intake and carb from a 1966 390 Horse Corvette. Intake number 3866948 and carb 3811. The carb has the part number and model number on it, but no date code. The seller claims it to be original and not a service replacement. Is this correct (no date code) for an original carb?Tags: None- Top

Re: C2 427 Carb - 3811
I have an August 1966 dated 3811 on my 67 L36. Car was assembled in late October of 1966.- Top

Yes, it should have a 3-digit date code if it's an original production-line carburetor.- Top

Re: C2 427 Carb - 3811
Rick,,,In my opinion (not worth a bunch) the 67 carb is not as good as the 66. I believe that the 67 has no external float-bowl adjustment. You have to take the bowl off and bend the arm. 66 had adjustable floats. I have always thought that it was a cheaper carb, not better. Others more knowledgeable than me may feel differently............Bill S- Top
