'62 Transmission Shifting

When I got my '62 (about 2 years ago) the transmission would "grind the gears" when shifting from 1st to 2nd. About a year ago I had someone service the transmission which included replacing the syncho rings. Shifting improved but was not perfect. Lately it seems to have gotten slightly worse. There is a "grinding" when shifting from 1st to 2nd UNLESS I slow the shift - kind of like shifting from 1st into neutral and then into second.

Not knowing much about this I'm looking for suggestions. Is there some type of adjustment on the shifter linkage?

Any suggestions for an experienced shop in the Los Angeles area (Long Beach or vacinity) would be appreciated.

Don -

Try the easy stuff first - is your clutch disengaging fully? Is it adjusted with the correct free play with the pedal in the up position?

My 61' did the same thing my cure was to press the clutch all the way to the floor...do not no if that is your problem but worked for me...my problem was getting it in first and reverse.
