I have a late 66 would the gas door flag have a black or white square in the upper left hand corner of the cross flags? What is correct for a real late car built in the last week of production?

Re: 66 gas door
Jeremy –
Only based on observation, my early ’66 has a white square at the upper left. I think that is was the trend/carryover from ’64 and ’65 gas doors. Some other upper left white square applications include,F.I. plenum flags and nose emblems. The upper left black square applications (on my car) include, front fender emblems, hubcap spinner inserts, and horn button insert. These may vary also.
The new ‘67 style gas door change (the ’68 design?) and the necessary service parts could have caused this variation on later ‘66’s. Maybe this detail was not clear on the drawing and was released to production anyway. Noland’s book addresses this anomaly too.

66 gas door
Jeremy,
Very late '66 cars had the white square in the upper left. My car has a July 20 build date and my original gas lid door has this pattern. I'm pretty sure this issue is discussed in the '66 TIM&JG.
