Does anyone happen to have a later 70's or early 80's parts book handy? Need the last available part number for a 57-63 Borg Warner sycronizer ring in group 4.383. My newest book (73) still lists the old original number, 3709348 but I believe the newest number was 360812? Thanks.

Thanks Gary, but, are you sure that's from the 4-speed section? Those numbers almost sound like 3-speed. In fact, if it shows 55, it must be for 3-speed.- Top

Re: From P&I Corvette Catalog 53-82 with
Thanks Norm. It must have changed later than that printing. If indeed it did change to the 360812, then there's a problem that all owners of 57-63 B-W 4-speed car owners should know about.- Top

Re: Late 70's Parts Book
Michael-----
The GM #3709348 blocking ring was discontinued from SERVICE in August, 1984 and replaced by the GM #360812. However, the 360812 had been available in SERVICE since late 1974. It was the original blocking ring used for 1975+ Borg Warner 4 speeds used in Corvettes from that time through 1981. It's also used in the Doug Nash "4+3" transmission used for 1984 through 1988 in Corvettes.
The GM #360812 is still available from GM in SERVICE-----for about 65 bucks each, GM list.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Thanks Joe. That's exactly what I thought. Now I can post the problem involved when replacing the 3709348 with the 360812.- Top

Re: Late 70's Parts Book
Thanks Art. The numbers sound like those used for 3-speed transmissions, especially the MY usage. (55-65)
The original 3709348 must have also been used for some 1955 3-speed application by it's numerical value, but not Corvette. That would be about right for a number in that range.- Top
