Until last weekend I hadn't driven my '64 at night for any appreciable length of time. I learned that the high beam light came on with the low beams. This led to checking the wiring diagram and wire colors.
Found incorrect wire location on the floor dimmer switch and on the headlight bucket extensions. After making the changes the high beam dash light came on with the high beams but I no longer have low beams.
If I read the diagram correctly the tan wire serves the low beams and the green or black-green serves the high beams. With all routing per the AIM diagram I find that I have no voltage on the tan wire at the dimmer in low position.
Assuming that the dimmer switch was at fault I bought a cheap replacement. Still no power on the tan wire at the switch.
Can anyone tell me if I am correct about the function of the dimmer switch. In the low position power enters from the light switch through the blue-light blue wire on the left post and connects to the tan wire on the right post. In high position power is supplied to the tan wire and also the black-green on the center post.
As always, thanks to everyone for their help.
