I am restoring my 1961 315 HP feulie. I have the original injection system with distributor, but the car now has a Holly carb set up on it. I'm sure it was removed for reliability reasons. I will be using the car as a very nice "driver" If I were to go back to the injection system, where can I get the most up to date information on how to properly restore it and where to get the best parts?

Ya know, because of this board, I gotta say...
...from experience, John DeG is absolutly great - close to flawless. However, for shear entertainment value, I would consider trying Jerry Bramlet if I had a unit that I didn't want to do myself. I understand John's turn-around time is out there a way, and I would feel very comfortable checking with both of these guys to see what looked like it would work the best. And if this post stepped on either's toes, (which I doubt) they are too sensitive and I apologize in advance.Comment

I know this may sound crazy for those who know so much more that I. But what I was also thinking about was doing it myself and if there was any reference (how to) material that was really good? Also would I be smarter to reinstall that injection system it a car that I want to be a reliable drever? To tell you the truth I had one of these systems when they were new and it was no fun.

I've driven my two FI cars several thousand miles over the past few years, even did an NCRS Road Tour without any problems, Properly set-up they are not really a problem, with the occasional exception of hot starts with today's gasoline.Bill Clupper #618Comment

That sounds great to me. I would really like to have it on the car. Has anybody out there tried it themselves? If they have I would appreciate knowing what they used reference wise to walk them thru it, or is recommended to have an expert do it? Thanks for all the help!!

Jack, Dennis Clark is right. I am buried with work. Not on here to drum up business. It's unethical and against DB policy. You have the right idea. You don't need me or anyone else. If you want to really enjoy your fuel car and you want to drive it and not just have a trailer queen like I have then learn how to do it yourself. Your 7320 unit is a really nice reliable unit. Not that difficult to work on. Now if you said you have a 57 that's another matter. Those are a pain. Don't waste money on an FI manual. Just go buy the Corvette Servicing Guide known as the ST-12 manual. Gary and Eric have it for sale at NCRS at a discount. Best manual ever written. Read the theory as often as possible. Anyone can turn the screwdriver but if you don't know the theory you are wasting your time. Do it yourself and then if it breaks you will know why. Good luck, JohnComment

James, In my opinion, both John and Jerry are two of the best and most knowledgeable people on early corvette fuel injection repair. The difference between the two is that John also sells parts. Jerry tests his units by putting them on one of his test cars and driving them under varying conditions. Jerry also sends his customer a video tape of the unit taken while running on his car. Additionally, Jerry has a web site, jerrybramlett.net which is very informative. I suggest you review it. Both Jerry and John are thoroughly honest. Good luck with you 61.Comment

I agree that the ST12 is a good reference point. I would also suggest getting the full copy of the Corvette Restorer on CD-ROM for your year of Corvette. There are many articles on testing and troubleshooting the Rochester FI unit so you will have a sense of where to go for help.
You can always ask here for help (and Jerry, John, and the others will probably have the answers). Worst case you can always send it to a rebuilder after having tried yourself. You could chalk the rebuild part costs up to a practical education in FI.Comment
