    Frame holes

On my small block 65 frame there are 4 pre-taped holes, located on each side of the rear frame cross- member. The location is where the big block rear stabilizer bar bushing brackets are mounted. Question; Do ALL 65-67 frames have these holes predrilled, big block or not? Question; Are the holes in the top ends of the trailing arms, used to mount the ends of the rear stabilizer bar brackets, present on all' replacement' standard trailing arms?

    Bob------

By "pre-tapped holes" I assume that you mean a hole in the frame with a weld nut attached on the inside. I did a little survey on this subject awhile back and also made my own observations at random Corvettes at shows. It would seem that a large number of small block cars DO HAVE the holes/weld nuts. However, not all. My 1969 small block has neither the holes nor the weld nuts and I have seen a few other cars without them.

As far as the SERVICE trailing arms go, the last available SERVICE trailing arms, GM #14035663 and 14035664 which have been the only SERVICE arms available since 1983 for all 1963-82 Corvette applications, DO HAVE the bolt holes pre-drilled for the sway bar brackets. There were 3 previous iterations of the trailing arms, though, and I don't know if each of these also had the holes pre-drilled or not.

Re: Frame holes for Rear Sway Bar

Bob --- Is your frame original; ie. have you seen the VIN derivative stampings ? Joe is probably right in saying that a few random 65 to early C3 small block cars have these holes with the nuts welded inside (ie. done DURING frame fabrication), but I would doubt it during the first year for this feature, and there'd be even less chance that it would be found on a car with a VIN earlier than the L78 introduction (late 12000's).

        Wayne----

I agree. I should have mentioned that I would seriously doubt that many 65s built much prior to introduction of the L-78 would have the rear sway bar weld nuts. Of course, no earlier C2s would have them.

Wayne and Joe , My vin is 12,653 so that would put it in the ballpark. I now need to go check my frame vin. I've never looked.I don't look at to much that's not judged. Thanks for the responce, Bob ( There are no holes in my rear trailing arms for the bar.
