62 Vette rear bumper long brace

After a bit of effort three of us were able to remove the rear bumper 4 1/2 foot long brace from the body of the 62. We used a piece of .010" shim stock to slide the brace against the rear lower valance. That stoped the brace from digging into the fiberglass. Spreading the valance away from the tire tub helped too. Anybody have an easy way to reinstall this piece after I bead blast it and paint it. I'm sure we can get it in but it will be a tight fit same as it was taking it out. Was this brace originally installed while GM's finest were assembling the body panels together?

My opinion is "YES". Mine is very tight also.

      Hi Gene

I took mine out of my 62 with a little effort and it went back in easy enough. Just go slow.
