I have a 1971 LS5 4 SPEED that has a Rochester Carb #7043202 A 3.. F 5 code. I know it is the incorrect one for my car.I was wondering what it belonged to. Does the manual still require the carb date to be within 6 months of the date the engine was built. (still no judging guide). There is one on EBAY that is 210 days before my cars manufacture date...I don't want to waste my $$... Thanks!

Re: Rochester Carburetor
Jim,
According to my NCRS Pocket Spec Guide, the 1971 365 hp 4 spd engine used a Rochester Quadrajet part no. 7041205. If by chance yours is the 425 hp 4 spd then a Holley 4150 R4803A part no. 3986195 is used. I cannot address the carb date issue, you will have to check with someone else.

Jim-----
To meet NCRS and NCCB judging standards the carb date code must be within 6 months prior to the car's build date. The carbs were installed at St Louis, so there's no real relationship between the engine build date and the carb.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
