Are you talking about the front coil springs or the rear leaf spring?

Perhaps others can help w/ coil spring info

        Scott,

The rear leaf spring is really my interest. Perhaps others can advise wrt the front coils. I think there might be some discussion about front coils in the archives if they are up and running again.

        Sorry I couldn't help,

        Gary

          Scott,

You really need someone who is familiar with '69 chassis, or has access to a '68-'69 judging manual.

For what's it worth, 1970 cars had front coil springs that were natural "hot-rolled" steel, i. e. they would have blue-grey oxidation flakes on the natural steel due to the manufacturing process. In 1970, no paint was applied; I am not sure about 1969. If I were you, I would also get down under and take a real close look at your springs; you may be able to find the "broadcast code" tags that have been there since the car was new. This colored paper tag will be wrapped around the spring coil and have a two-letter code that is different depending on the engine and options for the car, i. e. the "sprung weight". For '70-'72 cars with big block engines, these codes are either "HU" or "HV".

You mentioned your ride height was incorrect: Is it obvious to the casual look, or did you measure it? Eckler's sells replacement springs for '68-'82, but only in two different spring rates, 460# and 550#. These probably represent a small block spring and a big block spring, and may not give you exactly the correct ride height either. In 1970, GM installed four different front springs in Corvettes, so I would make sure I understood exactly what I needed and what they are selling. NOS would be the best if you can find any with the right "broadcast code", but these may be as "scarce as hen's teeth".
