Having looked at past posts on ****co exhaust systems, has anyone had experiences with them recently? I'm looking for an aluminized system for my '55. They seem to be priced much lower than many systems offered. Any positive or negative comments?
is every supplier I know of offers the '55 system with oval mufflers, which would be absolutely correct for a 6 cylinder. However, according to GM specifications, the V8 should have the same 4" dia round mufflers seen on the 56-57, usually referred to as "off-road". My own '55, #518, had these originally, and has them now. They sound great, a nice low growl when driven "calmly", so I don't annoy the neighbors, but "sing" with a great note on the highway, and really snarl when accelerating. Some '55's may have been assembled with leftover 54 ovals, but I would avoid them. Dr Rebuild said he'd be able to supply the system with the round mufflers. No doubt others might be compliant on this issue, too.
If you have any doubt, stop by and I'll give you a ride.
I bought from ****CO about two years ago for my 270hp '59 (round mufflers) and had no problem with the installation and they sound great. They fit perfectly with no rattles. When I spoke with a gentlemen there, his comment to me was they are the supplier for "most" Corvette supply houses. I have no idea who and did not ask. I have no regrets....
I bought a compete system for my '61 last winter. It's real nice quality, it fit with some aggravation (expected), and the price was right. Not sure if they are 100% judging qualified but that is up to you. I think upon request ****CO will weld the intermediate pipes onto the mufflers if that applies to your year.
