Re: your favorite place for parts?

OK, thanks for the great help guys! with that being said...can anyone recommend a place/website to get suspention parts (new bushings, idler arm, ball joints etc) and brake calipers/pads/rotors.

I did notice that Napa auto parts online carries 65 corvette calipers and rotors but cheaper. Im assuming they are not factory replacements though? Am I correct?

          Suspension parts: it depends.
If you want correct appearing parts you'll need to visit a few different vendors.
If you just want your car on the road, ask you local auto parts store for Moog parts and get the job done.

          Brake parts:
Read the extensive archive posts on why NOT to replace your rotors "just because."
Either send your calipers to Vette Brakes in FL to be redone, or just get on their web site and buy a kit. You won't do any better. If you want the calipers to appear "more" correct then ask them to be painted black.

              Jeff,

I just did an order for my 67 on a bunch of small parts from Corvette Central last Saturday on-line. Figured the wouldn't get on it til Monday. Sure enough on Monday, I got an email that they were shipped. Received them from Michigan to California on Wednesday. That is service.

Have had bad experience with Ecklers and don't do business with them. Paragon is good and a little better on originality of parts. Good service also.
Don't discount Zip, they are still pretty good.

I have many friends who have bought ss calipers at the local auto zone. The price is near the same for resleeved ss calipers and if they fail with your recipt they have a lifetime warrenty which is easy to exchange no shipping or wait time as some stores have them in stock.

                  Yes,

at the time you compose a response, you can't see who else is out there writing too. We often 'duplicate' replys and hopefully the advice given agrees...

                    Re: Even though I'm a C-3 guy

I have to second Jack's comment.

I have all the big and small name parts suppliers rags and will shop out what I need with every one.

I at one time, I had a shopping list of over fifty parts and when I was through, I placed orders with five different suppliers.

When doing this, I had to factor in the shipping and handling as well.

All in all Jeff, I ended up saving close to $750.00 when the dust settled.

For me that was huge because I'm on a tight budget.

                    My two pennies worth Jeff.

And don't rule out the Chevy dealer. You will be surprised at how many parts they do still offer for your car. They may not have it in stock but they can usually get it within a week. Sometimes the price is competative and sometimes its astronomical. I have been surprised so many times that I make a habit of calling the local parts guy for price and availability for every part I need. Okay, not every, but most of the hardware and fasteners.

                      Good luck!

Re: your favorite place for parts?

My preferences are Willcox Corvette (advertises in the Corvette Trader and has parts on eBay), Dr. Rebuild, Paragon Reproductions, eBay, and the Corvette Forum. Not necessarily in that order.
