Anybody know how large the date code letters are for the battery which are stamped in the top??

Hi Steve:

I have a battery from Restoration Battery that was dated 7CV as shown in the photo below. When I questioned the appearance of the date code, I was told that the characters were actually burned into the molded rubber casing by heating them first, per the original factory process.

In any event, I think the characters in the tool are nominally about 0.200 inches tall, but the height increases a bit due to the way they are impressed on the casing.

Thanks for the photo. It appears the characters are adjacent to a couple of filler caps. Correct?

Yes, that is correct. There is also a second stamping that I believe is supposed to be the day of the month. That, too, is near the caps, but a few inches away from other date stamping. In my case the second stamping is the digit "9," barely visible near the Delco Eye cap in the photo below.
