Fifty Years of Checkered Flags!

Eb Rose..Texan, Texas Ranger, Businessman, Outdoorsman, Big Rig driver, Racecar driver, Grand Prix boat racer and much more..lived on the ranch next to the Foyt family.

Tony Foyt..AJ's father...built modified racecars for his son AJ, Eb Rose and Lloyd Ruby. The three were chronicled in the Houston paper each week as they tore up the dirt tracks of Texas and then went on to storied racing careers.

Below is a picture of Eb Rose taking the checkered flag in one of his 57 Corvettes.

Joe, thanks for posting the photo. Do you know if the photo was taken at Scholes Field in Galvestion? I attended SCCA races there in the late 50's.

Charlie..I was given this picture by Eb Rose..but cannot remember if he said it was Galveston or Fort Worth. Galveston sounds right.

When I visited him..he had what looked like a 1000+ pound Tuna or sailfish mounted in his garage.

He had pictures of himself on fishing trips out of Galveston with the Edelbrocks!

If you study the picture there is another 57 Corvette in the background.

Yes..Jim Gessner in Califonia..is working hard to assemble a comprehensive list of early race cars...and RPO cars.
