my left and right grill pieces are attached on the inside with 2 screws and on the outside by the parking lights. the grills have a mounting tab above and below the parking light that is not attached to anything. is this correct or maybe i have grills for a 68? the AIM shows the tabs but doesn't show them connected to anything.
thanks
On a 68 the upper two grille brackets (inboard and outboard) are attached to the metal angle above the grille opening. The lower inboard bracket is attached to the fiberglass behind the vertical bumper guard with two captured washer bolts. The outboard bracket is fastened to the fiberglass with rivets.
Mac,
From what I have learned since my restoration, your configuration is correct and is the same configuration as I have on my Jan31/69 built car. As John says the 68 model used additional attachment points as compared to the 69 even though the grill is the same. The outer, upper and lower attach points above and below the parking lamps are not used in 69.
For what it's worth my grills still have the silver "highlights" on the grill bars as they did in 68.
