You know, on page E5 of the 68 assembly manual it shows the thing called the housing assembly. I have had several of these over the years and taken a few out of cars. But I have never seen the guides as described in the assembly manual attached to them. The guide is part number 9342780. I suspect it helped prevent rattle noise and friction?? Anyone every see these things installed in an actual car?? I have never ever seen them in a corvette. Opinions and observations are welcome. Terry

It is item number 9. Maybe our manuals are different?? The page shows the shifter console assembly, the shifter plate, the metal bracket with the levers that control the vents and the reinforcement for the front of the padded console. Cool! Just goes to show you that things were happening back then. I have the picture scanned. I will up load it and post it to here. Hold tight. The little parts must have been to prevent the vent knobs from rattling and grinding on the bezel. Terry- Top
