Can't believe all these NCRS guys here don't remember. I remember, as I had my second '63 that summer and the NCRS guys at Bloomington told me no way when I asked about joining. Only the '53 to '62 were welcome.

Apparently, the Sting Rays were welcomed later that year, or the NCRS guys at Bloomington were doing their personal rejection of the "new" Corvettes into NCRS.

      Re: How many left 1955

Andre Boer, one of my fellow board members of the potential Dutch Chapter has one; but he has at least one from every year (apart from 53 I believe).

As soon as we have official status and we do our first flight judging we will pencil in some time to visit his great Corvette museum (50+ cars).

        Well, there's

35 in the online C1 Registry. This would be more current than "The Corvette Registry 53-55", which has 209 records listed as "current", meaning from the 90's to the publication of the Registry, which was a couple of years ago. It also lists an additional 100+ cars as "older listings".

          Re: Well, there's

Only 16 55 's show real owners names in the registry the rest are taken from e-bay or the papers. The Corvette regestry 53-55 also did the same with few real owners. I belieave less then 200 of the 55's are still around

            Well, even

200 would be more than 25%, which would be a an extrordinary survival rate for a fifty year old car. Even when new, these were toys. We had one, and my Dad used it as a daily driver at least 6 years, and I gotta tell you, I used mine daily for 3 months in northern Florida one winter and "not real practical" would be a kind way of desribing it. The defogger is pitiful, and visibility poor, and all the rainwater fron the front of the car is directed to the ashtray in each door, and of course the front floor. Amazes me when I remember my Dad driving in the Ohio winter with a foot of snow.
