    Re: Yet Another Photo

    Joe,
You are dead right. The Fel Pro OS34509T is a one piece gasket. It comes with new bolts and some little tabs to hold it in place for installation.
My Napa guy showed me the gasket he said was a Fel Pro. It was multi-piece and it was NOT a Fel Pro. He was insisting it was the same. I will be getting the correct OS34509T Fel Pro gasket from my local advance auto store. Can't deal with the Napa guy. He is too stuborn!
Fel Pro has another gasket FPP-1885 that is gray in color. Not sure what the difference is.
Also, do you think my original oil pan bolts can be used?

I used my original bolts with no problem. Used the longer bolts to start to tighten it in a couple holes. Then put the shorter ones in a few holes and pulled the long ones out. No problems.

I don't know anything about the Fel-Pro #1885. However, all things being equal, I'd prefer the light gray color to the blue of the OS34509T. I wonder what the difference is? Which one costs more? That may be a "clue".

          Joe,
The Summit Racing site shows the OS34509T as gray and the FPP-1885 as blue.
I believe the difference between the two gaskets is the OS34509T comes with new replacement bolts and little tabs to hold the gasket in place during the install and the FPP-1885 is only for the gasket.
I'm with you, I prefer the grey gasket.

When I was having my sb rebuilt, I had gotten one of the one-piece gaskets with the screws, and asked the mechanic to use the bolts with the correct head markings, and he told me that he wouldn't rebuild the engine if I insisted on using the original bolts. (Actually it was more like he was going to throw me and the engine both out of the shop.) Turns out he wound up using the multi-part gasket and original bolts and I returned the 1-piece. I'm still not sure if he had a legitimate reason for not wanting to use the orig bolts with the 1-piece gasket, or if he just had an attitude....
