    C2 Brake calipers

I have a set of original brake calipers for my 65 coupe and need to have them rebuilt/overhauled. I need some recommendations on do's and dont's and who does the best work, approximate cost...

I reside in Texas and have heard that Lonestar caliper does good work.

    Thanks,

    DP

    Re: C2 Brake calipers

    Dwight,
A couple of years ago I had Lonestar Caliper Co. rebuild the first design calipers for my '65 convertible. (They were one of the few places that would rebuild first design calipers).

The total cost was $422 including freight back to me. They have not been placed into service yet, so I can report anything about functionality.

Lonestar also rebuilt my original power steering cylinder.

    Good luck on your '65.

    Regards,
    Gene

I used Lonestar Caliper a few years ago. They even went through their stock and put together a complete set of first design calipers for my 65 with the correct casting numbers. I was very surprised they went to all that trouble for a very minimal extra charge. The calipers have been on my car for several years with no problems. I would highly recommend them.

I had a couple of sets of first design calipers done from Vette Brakes. I had mine sent back to me. I called first, but I don't know if you have to.

              Thanks Mike.
Lonestar is about 3 hours away by car and I have a son and grandkids close by, so I plan to personally deliver and pick them up. I have discussed the job with Ken the owner and he is very knowledgable about Corvette brakes. From all of the feed back I have received, I believe Ken will do a great job.

                DO NOT use Florida Caliper....

... If he is even still in business (or someone hasn't taken a contract on his life). They guy flat out stole one set of calipers from me, plus the money I paid to rebuild them, plus he ruined another set that I also had paid for. Overall, I lost $700 to $800 doing business with him, and couldnt do a thing about it. Almost any of the other companies are fine, including CSSB, lonestar, and Vette Brakes.
