    1967 L79 Alternator Question

What is the factory correct alternator for a 1967 with L79 motor but NO Air Conditioning?
    Is it # 1100694 or 1100696 ?
    Thank you,
    Kurt

    Re: 1967 L79 Alternator Question

The Corvette Black Book lists the 1100694 for 327/427 with air conditioning and the 1100696 is for 327/427 with transistor ignition without air conditioning.

My 67 L79, no AC, no TI has a 37 amp alternator #1100693 which I believe to be correct.

        Re: 1967 L79 Alternator Question

        Jim,
What if the car is a 327 L79 with standard points ignition, not TI and no air.
I am looking at Alvin Colvin's Chevrolet by the Numbers and I am confused as it is unclear or I am reading it wrong.

          Re: 1967 L79 Alternator Question

          Rick,
That is strange as the 1100693 is allegedly only for the base 327 motor, not the L79. (Alan Colvin Chevrolet bythe Numbers)
          Now you see my confusion????

              Re: 1967 L79 Alternator Question

              Kurt - Judging Guide calls for 1100693 (37A) for 67 L79 w/o C60, or TI or w/o TI & C60. L79 w/ TI only calls for 1100696 (42A).

Also, I have a good friend who is the original owner of a 67 w/ L79 engine and I distinctly remember his original alternator being a 37A alternator when we had to replaced it.

                Pete,
Thank you for the reply. I did not have access to a 67 Judging Guide as I am a 68 guy and only have the 68 Judging Guide.
                Much appreciate your clarification.
Looks like we need to find a 693 alternator.
                Thanks,
                Kurt

                  Kurt------

I would say that it's the 1100693. For one thing, there would be absolutely no difference in the electrical requirements of a base engine car as compared to an L-79 with points ignition and without C-60. So, there's no reason to expect that there would have been any difference in the alternator between a base engine car and an L-79 without K-66 and without C-60.

                      Kurt,
I see them on ebay all the time with many date codes available.
