I have a 65' coupe that I am re-storing. I have two fuel pumps to rebuild. I think one is the original one. Its a 4657 with a stamp on the mounting boss. The stamp is 4657LD. On the recess above the fuel out-let has a stamp 64'. The body is stamped ( on the in side) 3A64. The car was ordered in Nov. of 64, built Jan 13,65'. Can you tell me what the "LD" after the 4657 means?

I don't know this for certain, but I strongly suspect that the "LD" was the "broadcast code" for the 4657 fuel pump. Broadcast codes are the two or three alpha-character codes used by assembly line employess to quickly identify the correct part to be installed. Originally, the "LD" was probably also applied to the pump in some other, more visible way such as an ink stamping or a paper label, either of which are probably long gone by now.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Fuel pump dating?
If you have base engine or the 300hp, the number is correct. The pump should also have the "AC" cast into the sides of the upper casting and also into the
center of the bottom section. If there's no "AC" then its a replacement pump. The date wouldn't be correct(more than 6mo's off) but the date isn't judged, so don't worry about that.
