    '67 Numbers

I am trying to figure out production numbers by trim codes. I know how many '67 conv. were made, and how many had the L36 (427/390) option. Does anyone know where to get the production figures for finishes? As in:'67 Conv/427/390/Goodwood Green/Tan Interior/White Hoodstripe.

I agree with Joe, As a new member, I like this format....scan by subject to find points of interest.

    Thanks, Craig

Craig, I do not recall that those statistics are available. I have a 66 BB Coupe in Nassau Blue and I'd love to know the numbers of that color with particular options on the car. I just don't think that info is out there.

      Craig and Bill-----

There are no currently available statistics which provide information relative to how many cars were built with a certain combination of options. For C4s such information may be available, but I don't believe that it is for ANY of the earlier cars.

Considering the large number of options/colors/interiors available in 60s Corvettes, just about any given car is probably fairly unique.

Joe, I agree. I've heard the urban legends that GM has the info but I doubt it's true. By the way, I don't think we are related. I know that everyone asks me at shows if we are brothers etc. I do have a brohter named Joe though and one named Jim. Jim is very active in the NCRS (63 Duntov Roadster).

        regards Bill

No, Joe and I are NOT related. I am related to Jim though!!! Looks like we may have to tack a number on our last name!!!

              Bill-----

If your brother Jim is the one that lives in the Oregon/Washington state area, I met and talked with him many years ago at a National Convention in Bend, OR. He and I determined that we were, apparently, in no way related. So, that probably means that you and I are in no way related, either. However, there aren't that many Lucias around, so, way back, who knows?

Joe....yes the person (Jim) that you met in Bend is my brother. I agree that somewhere way back when we probably have a common relative or two. By the way, Jim is retired now and is working on a '57 for a NW chapter member. He visited us here in Colorado at thanksgiving. I'll say helllo to him for you when I call this weekend.

                  Bill, Joe,

I was afraid of that. I had hoped that someone had gone into a long forgotten storage room at GM and found those records.

I thank you and appreciate your support.

Your original question is a VERY COMMON one. Unfortunately, at least so far, the answer is always the same. I have a very strong suspicion that it will remain so for the ages. One of the great unanswerable questions of all time.

                      Re: '67 Numbers

Craig --- I'm sure GM had "some" color combinations w/body style - body options data, especially those that generated a specific trim tag ECL code. The closest we come to that is the 1972 model year, when (separately) exterior color / interior color, by body style, was issued. With other years, to get some idea of the combination data, one turns to known color and options production, and, as (in most cases) the sample size is statistically significant, can apply probabilities to come to a close approximation. 1967 model year is close to the '66 interior color production printed in Corvette News, Vol 9 # 4, hinting that tan interiors were less than 10% of all others [black and blue, alone, were ordered on 60% of the cars]. I assume you already know the actual GM quantities of Goodwood Green cars (both body styles) and white tops, as found in the NCRS Spec Guide.

But the bottom line is (as Joe L. says) that you will end up with yours being one of 100 or 50 or 10 cars produced, depending on how many combinations you add to the pot.

                          Wayne,

I am new to NCRS. I'll be ordering the Spec Guide today.

I've had the car for about 10 years and am just about done. It's being painted now...actually the final primer coat goes on today. In that 10 years I have driven the car 6 times. Three of those times has been with in the last 60 days. (Tires, Show and the Painter). 43K orginial miles.

                          Thank you for your guidance.
