    Engine Stamping Question

I enjoyed reading all the posts on this subject. Now for the technical part. How do I do it? Where can I buy stamps that are the size and style as the ones used at Flint on my '62? Where can I find a late 1961 870 block?

The very fact of the fury surrounding this subject convinces me that it is important to restore my car with the correct block. And they are not making them anymore.

This is a serious question, and I am sincerely asking for help. If this is off subject, please write privately.

Chris, you can find a correct dated block in a number of places. However, I do think you need to be very aware of how the judging process will go forward once you have "stamped" a block. I would talk with the team leader for 62's and find out what happens. You need to be prepared for that block to get "called" on the judging field. You can certainly restamp it (and do a good job) but broach marks are another story. Sooner or later the judging process will catch this. You may still do it but be prepared for the requisite deductions given to "Stampers".....just something to consider.

    regards Bill
