    67 bright blue carpet

The carpet set I purchased is too light in color. Does anyone have a way to darken the color?

    Thank you,

    Randy

Is it an Al Knock carpet? And do you know if the 67 supposed to be the same Bright Blue as the 65 Bright color?

The 67 Bright blue is much darker than most repros. Auto Custom Carpets used to have a good one, but I havent ordered any in years now.

Is your interior blue or teal blue? If teal blue you can hand dye it with blue steel rule dye mixed with alcohol. There does not seem to be a teal carpet available that exact matches the original color. Oh, and save the old pinch welting and sew on new carpet as the replacements are not even close.

The interior is bright blue, not teal blue.

            Thank you for the response.

              Randy

I don't know if it is the same as 1967, but this is what happened with my 65 Bright Blue carpet from Al knock.

I had put new Al Knock carpet " bright Blue" in my 65 in 1982 when during my frame off restoration and it matched the ORIGINAL carpet to the tee. Fast forward to 2004 when I decided it was time to put another Al Knock "Bright Blue" carpet in..........you know the usual, sun bleached, heater core malfunctioned. So I ordered new "Bright Blue" carpet from Al at Corvettes of Carlisle in 2004 and it arrived sometime in late Sept and when I compared it to the "bright Blue" that was in the car and It wasn't even close!
It was a very LIGHT Blue. I called Al and told him the story and he said that is the color they have been selling, BUT he would try and do something about it and I should ship it back. I told him that I didn't have time as I was leaving on a 7 month Motorhome trip in two day with my 65 in tow. He asked where I was going, and I told him we were going to tour the country out west and end up in FL. He asked if we were going to be going thru El Paso TX and I said yes. He then suggested that I bring the carpet with me and they would make it right and even install it. So that's what I did. When I got to his plant, they didn't have any "Bright Blue" period. After much discussion and searching, Arturo, Dale, and Al concluded that they had been selling the wrong color "Bright Blue" for 1965 and they didn't even have a sample big enough to send to their carpet supplier for them to use as a color guide. Al asked me if they could cut a piece out of my cargo area that they could use as a color match. Of course I said yes and they cut out a piece about 8 inches square. They were to bring the NEW "Bright Blue" carpet to COC 2005 and install it there. Now wait, this gets better................ I bring the 65 to COC 2005 and they bring the NEW BB carpet, which BTW is the RIGHT BB, BUT it has the WRIONG color binding and heel pad............so back to the drawing board! Arturo takes the carpet back to El Paso and runs me a new set with the right "BB" binding color and heel pad. Now we are getting some where!

Again, I don't know if the 67 is the SAME color Bright Blue, but my guess is that it is. If I were you I would contact Al Knocks and talk to them about your situation.

Funny how its never exactly right and if they get one thing right then something else is wrong. And then in mid stream they just happen to forget what color someting was and supply something else. Its always been that way, with carpets, door panels, seat covers, and especially convertible tops.

I shipped the carpet set back once with the observation that it was too light. They returned it. Time passed, I called and explained the problem. They sent a sample. It is the same color. I will take your advice and try again.

                  Thank you for the response.
