There's a reason for the JG being silent on the issue of MC dating. That's because MC's on factory production cars in the '70-72 era are NOT thought to have been date coded.

The '73-74 JG defines the method for date coding used in those years and it consists of a tiny 4-digit Julian code (YDDDD) sequence stamped onto the milled side surface where the front brake line would connect.

I have a few dated coded 70-72 M/C's so some of them have dates. Not for sale.
