Re: One College Student Pleads for Another..

Agreed! I, too, am a 21 year old Engineering Student and have driven sharks since I was 18. I cover every dime--the only freebie I get is a pariking space in the garage.

Let the kid drive, if just with you in the passenger seat.

Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to let him read the above posts so he can see what a hot topic this is. He is likly a resposible person, so let him make the desision himself once he understands what this decision means to you. If he reads the postings then he will likly get a feel for how the corvette comunity treats there cars and what a serious concern it is. All you should do is lay down the rules for him. Tell him that if he wants to see what the car can really do, you will show him.

ON THE WAY TO MILE HIGH..

Evidently no one has warned you about my SLIGHT visual disability , so I'll wax, rub, spit shine, tire black, glass clean, replace the muffler valve, anything you want, just let me drive something other than the lawn tractor

              Patrick,

So you have all of us wondering, tell us, does he get a drive, or not? Let us know what your decision is, and if he gets the ride, his reaction. Bill

                  Re: But can they Drive?

Resposability doesn't always equate to money. Just maintaining a "A" average shows me a students drive and worth. Competition into university is fierce here in Canada so when is there time to study amd work? Once my 16 year old gets a high performance driving course behind her she can take me anywere! I'll then measure her ability and decide if she can "solo". Modern Dad

Re: Yep, my 18 year old.....

i guess i am in real trouble, when i took my 5.5 year old grandson for a ride in my C-5 the first thing he said was "there is a lot of big numbers on the speedthing". also the first night my 16 years old son took the car by himself the phone rang and my wife said i wonder who that is, i said its probability clay(our son) and he has wrecked the car. how right i was,the good part was that no one was hurt,it was not his fault and he was driving our citation.

Reminds me the day day when I was 16......

and destroyed my dad's Plymouth, going down a hill, car pulls out in front of me, (he ran a stop sign), brakes go to the floor, broadsided that motha. When I realized I had no brakes, and no where to go, all I said was "Oh Turd". Needless to say, pops was not a happy camper. Me, had a nasty, nasty welt on my chest from where the steering wheel imbededded.
