A previous owner of my 67 L-79 coupe installed a big block setup with regard to the stabilizer bars (9/16" rear and 7/8" front). I know that small blocks only came with a front stablilzer bar (3/4" as I recall) and no rear bar, and I've read on past posts that if changes are made to the factory suspension (generally not advisible) at the very least an engineered approach should be taken on both bars to make sure they work with each other. My question is will the curent big block setup as installed by a previous owner significantly degrad the handling since it's a small block car or will it work ok since it's the complete big block setup?

Re: C2 Stabilizer Bars
Kenny,
My guess is that your car will have a greater tendency toward oversteer with the bars installed. The extra weight of the BB required additional front roll stiffness to ward off understeer (plowing or pushing), and so a heavier front antiroll bar. Because most of that extra weight would be loading the front wheels, then using the BB setup with the lighter SB would result in a slight bias in front roll stiffness, in a car originally designed for neutral handling. Of course, the car will have greater total roll stiffness than stock, but with a slight bias toward the front. It will be able to generate higher side loads on a skidpad, than stock, but the slight front bias will make the car "tail happy" at the limit. In short, more fun to drive, and more of a "handfull" if you get crazy with it.
