    wooden engine support

I have been searching the archives for the sketch of that home made wooden engine support that goes around the oil pan, but can't locate it. Does anyone have a sketch or can direct me to it in the archives? Thanks!

why go to all that trouble when you can buy a metal one with casters so it can be rolled around for about $50. plus it can be taken apart for storage

        Don -

If you mean the one to use when jacking up the engine without denting the oil pan, the photo is below; the base is a 2x6, and the sides are 1x6. Crude, but effective.

            Re: wooden engine support

Clem I bought one and my engine is currently mounted in it however I need to mount and dial in the lakewood scattershield. It requires that I mount the flywheel and scattershield to do this and the stand I bought wont allow me to do that.

John thats the one Thanks! I thought I saw a print or sketch posted here about a month ago but I'll be damned if I can find it in the archives.

Tell me, what part of the motor rests on the top of the 1x6 uprights. And the notch, is that to clear the oil dipstick?

                One more sample

I used John H's plan and some scrap lumber. The flywheel is still attached.

                  Don -

The pan rail (where the pan bolts are) sits on top of the side pieces, and the notch is to clear the dipstick "bump".

                    Look at:

                    www.motofeet.com

They make an engine stand that'll allow you to attach the bell housing and transmission.

Not widely available. A little expensive.
