fan shroud question..

When i bought my 75 it didn't have a fan shroud that was in one piece. The extension was gone. I bought a good used one and got the extension from my son who works for a local chevy dealer. My question is (and it may be dumb) are there special fasteners that hold the extension to the shroud. We looked in the dealers computer but couldn't order what the shroud uses.Thanks in advance..

I believe that they're just ordinary #10-24 X 1" hex head screws (bolts). You should be able to get these in any hardware store.

Doc Rebuild has a extension mounting hardware kit listed for 73-75. I haven't bought it and I can't say about configuration, but that's where I would start. Buy them and compare to a known original.

If the extension mounts like the earlier fiberglass shrouds, there are also some T-nuts that are installed in the shroud to receive the screws...those in the correct configuration are more of a concern than the screws. I expect Doc Rebuild's hardware is at least functional...I can't say if it judges well.

The screws that originally held the extension to the shroud were recessed hexhead and I doubt you will find them in this configeration at the local hardware but they will have something to hold it together in the thread size needed. Try Paragon they have a good bolt selection.
