    1967 jack

Should the "U" portion of the jack with the nut on it (opposite the drive end) face inward or outward for a car in the low 20,000 serial number range? If any of the members have or know of the correct style jack dated 7 C, D or E for sale, I would greatly appreciate hearing from them. Thank you.

    Joseph,

Not sure if there is a correct orientation of the jack in the jack compartment.
But here is a 7D which just sold on ebay for $860:

Just gave my original 7E a pat on the nut and whispered to it "Too much money"

      Re: 1967 jack

I believe that the reproduction 67 jack sold by Paragon and several other vendors is a very good reproduction. I bought one and have used it for Flight judging several times with no deductions. It compares well with the photos I have of original 67 jacks.

The reproduction contains an extra tubular steel sleeve on the screw shaft that I think the original 67 jacks did not have, but this part is easy to remove.

I can't comment on the reproduction jack handle because I still have my original handle.

Regarding the date coding, I think that some vendors will stamp the reproduction jack for an additional fee, or you can do it yourself. Technically, you may not need a date code for Flight judging. I believe that date codes first appeared on jacks around January 67, but under the "six month rule" for date coding you could theoretically have an undated jack for a car built as late as July.
