My 65 L79 aluminum intake is ready for me to add the nipples, heater and bypass. What type should I use here? I have Permatex thread sealant(teflon) in a small plastic bottle with applicator and also Permatex black silicone in a tube gasket sealant. The threads on this old intake are not 100%, but definately worthy of many good years of service. In the archives, I read where someone suggested using a silicone sealant on the bypass hose to prevent any leaks. Any opinions or experiences? Thanks! Dick Gutman

Re: ........With Teflon
Thanks Joe, for the response. This Permatex with teflon thread sealant looks very similar to the stuff in a tube under many other different brands. White pipe thread sealant. Seals and further acts as an anti-seize. A plumber told me that is why they use this stuff only for the anti-seize aspect. Dick Gutman- Top

Re: Aluminum intake nipple thread sealant.
That tube looks like the many brands of Teflon thread sealant I have seen. Plumbers love it. I like to think the Permatex brand stuff in a tiny bottle is better: BUT? It costs more so it must be better? Thanks Dick Gutman- Top
