This subject was touched upon about a year ago, and I seem to remember that someone had planned a Restorer article about this and other early C2 rear suspension particulars. The thin square of metal tack welded to the bottom of the strut rod bracket was thought to act as a heat barrier between the exhaust pipe and the rubber of the strut bushing.
The parts in this picture are from a complete '64 rear suspension set-up, probably from a mid-to end of January 1964 car.
I'm curious about just when this feature was deemed unnecessary, as '65-up cars don't have it. Does the '63-64 TM & JG shed light on this ?
