fuel tank straps

I am restoring a 69 427 coupe. I am mounting the new fuel tank to the chassis. In checking my Tech Manual, it does not tell me what finish the straps had from the factory whether plated or natural. Could somebody please help me out on this so I get it right? Thanks, Mark

They were painted semi-gloss black.

Original Patina -- strap and tank support brkt.

Mark --- as Joe L. says, I would call them semi-gloss. Just happen to have my late '65 tank out (never been previously removed). Took a dirty sock and rubbed the grime off the strap, and the caked-on thin layer of dust on the front tank mount bracket (also used to attach the middle bolts of the spare tire upper tub). I left some on to show how the parts looked upon removal.

I'm amazed at the condition of some of these parts after 41+ years.

Squeak isolators

Last I checked, the repro "roofing felt" squeak isolators were incorrect. The originals were thicker, and used two different widths (but I doubt anybody really checks that stuff!
