Trim Ring Clips

Are the clips on the Rally Wheel trim rings replaceable? I have one clip that has one of the three fingers broken off and was wondering if I could just replace the clip or if I had to get a new trim ring?

Hi Tom:

Because of the rolled edge that secures the clip I have never successfully done this to anyones satisfaction. Maybe a good metalsmith could pull it off but not that I have seen. Jack Humphrey had one of the neatest "tricks" I have heard in a while to use the inexpensive "all grip" trim rings and clip the correct clips to the wheels, ( in the proper orientation ), almost undetectable without removing the ring, don't tell him I told ya.

Hi Bob:

That is exactly what I toldJjack, I thought it was one of the more clever tricks I had ever heard. He said you can go to the boneyard and buy any Chevrolet junk trim ring, remove the clips and position them on your wheels. The "All Grip " rings are less expensive by far, sit flatly on the wheel and don't come off. In regard to the judging, I am certain this is not intended to fool them, think of it as an expenditure recovery maneuver.

I had a guy try that 15 years ago at the Fla. meet. I don`t recomend it. Any Judge worth his salt won`t fall for that one. There are other differences in the trim rings, specifically the hole shape and the outer flange is different. I just said "good try".

Tom, if your going to show your car get a new trim ring. Case in point,I never felt so embarrassed until going to the strip years ago I nailed it in front of some friends and thought I put on a "class A" exibition of speed in all 4 gears. While at the strip they told me, whats wrong with your cars rims,they wobble. Well I had to remove them to run anyways but found out later they wobbled all the time. Taken off too many times and reinstalled. Bent, or just bad I would replace it or all of them so you can avoid wondering as I did after that, Are my rims true or do they just like the cars looks. Sorta gave me a trim ring complex a while. Take care,ggg#33570.
