    59 Distributor

I am installing new plug wires in a '59 and having trouble getting #6 an #8 to reach. Does anyone have any insight into where the preferred location is on the cap for #1? I'm sure if #1 was in the "proper" place the wires would be the right lenght, but I don't want to keep changing everything hoping it will work. At the present I have #1 at the 9 o'clock position (looking down on the car and facing forward).

Try the 10 o'clock position. Is this the Larry From Mississippi?

If you have a distributor with the windows for external points adjustment, #1 is the tower that lines up with the passenger's side edge of the window. I believe this is shown in the assembly manual also.

Dale, I tried 10 o'clock and it didn't work, Bill suggested the assembly manual had a diagram, will try that next. I'm from Poway, California but I talk as if I was from Missisippi

          Larry,

If the previous suggestions don't work, I would suggest paying Mary Jo Rohner a visit. She lives in Poway and is very conversant in solid axle Corvettes. I believe she has a '59 or '60 that she just might allow you to have a look at.

              Re: 59 Distributor, problem solved

Following the directions I received on the board did it! The correct position for #1 post is one o'clock and the wires fit perfectly. Thanks to all. By the way, Mary Jo has never owned a Corvette (unless she bought one recently) but she does know a lot about them.
