    1969 side pipes

I have a 1969 that I'm restoring and it has side pipes. The black fiber glass piece that runs the length of the sidepipe cover that you attach to the corvette appears to be obout one inch short front and back, expossing the lower body of the corvette. They do not appear to be broken off. My questions are is this normal. Also I know 1969 had both a lower and upper rocker panel. Possibly should there be a upper or the smaller rocker panel on the car before you attch the side pipe covers. Thanks Rick

    Re: 1969 side pipes

    Rick,

It is my limited understanding of the factory sidepipes on a '69 that both parts of the rocker molding (thin: stainless, thick: black fiberglass) are removed for sidepipe installation.

There are also some modifications to the lower fenders to accomodate the sidepipe hangers.

    I hope this helps.

    Steve

The side pipe covers function as the rocker panel molding. When you install the front and rear cover moldings it should cover all the lower pinchweld of the birdcage (body)
