    Big/Small Block Power Steering

In 1966 I believe there are two different part numbers for Corvette power steering pumps - one for Big Block (5696999) and one for Small Block (5696222). I do not see outward differences. Is the big block unit calibrated for more weight over the front wheels, therefore a higher rate of assist - or has it something to do with RPM limits ?

There are no internal differences between the 2 pumps. If I recall correctly, the difference involves some minor variation in the configuration of the resevoirs and/or the mounting. One of the 2 resevoirs was never available in SERVICE, though; you only got it with the pump assembly.
