1979 Power Steering

Need some tips on power steering. Rebuilt pump, cylinder and control valve but do not get any power assist. Control Valve goes through centering but not sure it is under high pressures? How do you troubleshoot? Yes, system has been bleed.

With all the newly installed power steering parts, I would double check the lines are connected correctly. Look at another Corvette if able for verification.

Jim, doing that today but wonderiing-does the pump produce significant pressure. To me. system just seems to lack any power assist at the control valve inlet.

I don't know how much pressure the pump will produce, but enough to turn the wheels on a option loaded 70 454 not moving to turn the wheels left and right on concrete. I have only had mine apart to replace hoses and install new seals in the power assist cylinder.

Thanks Jim. I am going to replace the pump at this point but it internally is so simplistic I am almost sure this is where my problem is. In fact, the entire power steering system is so simple I cannot figure out why it has me by the bee-hind! Possibly, the pump vanes may be in backwards. Anyway, thanks.
