HOOD RELEASE easy way to white the letters?

does somebody have an idea or way to fill in the white letters on the hood release handle? tried whiteout and made a mess---thanks for all and any input

With a small brush, use any water-based paint in a can, and fill in the letters. Take a damp sponge and wipe off the excess. There's no hurry, you have plenty of time. The paint stays in the letters and it comes out perfect.

i must have had a brain fart---you are 100% correct about house paint---thought i was on the right track with type writer white out---sometimes things are mentally over engineered---thanks for getting me back to simplicity---phil

Wall paint is OK, but I always use oil base semi-gloss. It dries to a nice enameled look and is easily removed with mineral spirits before fully dry. Once dry, it is more durable and receptive to cleaning, compared to latex.

I use auto paint and the take an old style flat eraser and wrap a t-shirt piece around it . Make sure you have one side of the wrapped t-shirt eraser tight and pour a little acetone on it and then rub it over the piece. Takes all the excess of and does not go in the recessed areas

I used white Rustoleum. Looks great.
