My car is a 67 with an A O Smith body. I have a question regarding the seat belt reinforcements. I have cleaned them up as much as possible with a Dremel tool. I believe they are supposed to be zinc plated. There is no plating left. Is it worth the effort to remove them in order to replate them? How many judging points would be gained by doing this?
AO smith cars had the reinforcements painted green zinc chromate primer. Just did a AO smith 67 this year and got Bloomington Gold with it. Mask them off and paint, and then remove the paint from the rivets as the plates were primered before they were riveted to the body.
