I have a chance to buy dated carbs for my 67 L71 which was built sept 20, 1966. The stamp pad date is T0816JE. The carb dates are 3rd week of sept, 1966. Can anyone tell me if these dates are in sequence? Do the carb dates have to be prior to the assy date of the block? Thanks.
The carbs are dated back from the car's final assembly date, not the engine assembly date (they were installed at St. Louis); the Holley dating system would have made the third week the 12th through the 16th, so it's possible they could have been at St. Louis by the 20th.
Walt, the original end carbs for my 67 are dated the 4th week of Dec and the car was built around Jan 11. That makes 1 1/2 weeks lag time. Without the holidays at that time of year it may have reduced the lag time to a week so you may be OK.
