I'm installing correct Intake manifold gaskets on my 300 hp,on the end gaskets do you trim the locating tabs off after installation or do they stay? I can't remember seeing them on an engine that hadn't been apart. Thanks Terry

The locating tabs definitely stay. In fact, the tiny "GM" logo on one of these tabs is, I believe, a "judged item". Of course, the logo is only found on end seals contained in original GM gasket sets.
One of the reasons that you might not have noticed these tabs is that if you're used to looking at 69+ small blocks, you won't find them. 69+ small blocks use a "pin" type locating device instead of the tabs used for 1968 and earlier. Also, many earlier engines may have been SERVICED with the aftermarket cork-type end seals which use an adhesive for retention and no tabs.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Thanks Joe,Yes its a judged item I knew my gaskets on the sides were wrong but in their notes they mentioned "tabs". Maybe with the Paragon gaskets I'll get the three point deduct down to one.Thank again for your time. Terry Robertson- Top
