1965 Body Lift

Hi,

Is anyone aware of a checklist or set of instructions for lifting the body on a 1965 Convertible? I posted the other day regarding replacing the long brake line on the driver's side of the car and the general opinion was to lift the body about 3" to make the job easier.

I already have most of the car apart; engine and drive train, master cylinder, radiator and shroud etc., so taking apart a few more things is reasonable.

I've also been looking in the archives with no real luck.

Joel,
I think that replies to your original post will provide you a good checklist. I'm the somewhat foolish person that spent 10 hours replaing the line on my '65.

When everything is disconnected, I like the idea of raising the body and chassis as an assembly, blocking the body, and lowering the chassis downward to do the work.

The biggest problem with replacing the line is that it goes inboard of the body mounting bolts. This makes it impossible to just slip the line in behind where the rocker panel goes. This may be a good time to consider replacing the gasoline line that is routed through the frame if you think that it needs replacing.

Try your best to get the line replaced as soon as possible and get the body and the chassis back together ASAP. If you do not, you will get yourself into a honest to god body off restoration that will keep your car apart for too long. Case in point, a friend of mine has been "restoring" his '65 for 18 years! I've been working on mine for 3 1/2 years and I'm starting to loose interest.
